4 Fun Goal Setting Ideas for the New Year

Guys, it’s freakin’ November. Time to pack away 2018 and think about 2019.

In the fall, I set aside some time and reflect on my year and what I want to do for the upcoming year. Take some time to make a plan then create a strategy on how you are going to get there.

First things first, get out your planner and schedule a day to “set goals for 2019”. Let’s not get lazy about it and if you don’t have a planner, put something in your phone to remind you of this FUN FILLED DAY of GOAL SETTING!

4 Fun Goal Setting Ideas for the New Year

Get your girlfriends to come over and do vision boarding. If you aren’t familiar with vision boards, they are a great way to put all your hopes and dreams onto a poster board (you can get at any convenience store). Everyone can bring magazines or print off some pics online. Then you spend a couple hours cutting away to visually see what you truly want to happen for the upcoming year. Once you are done, put this vision board somewhere that you see it regularly, so you can be reminded of what you want to manifest for 2019.

Write a letter to yourself. This letter should have a list of everything you want, in detail, for the upcoming year. This will be very therapeutic and a time to tell your future self how awesome she is. Then give it to a trusted friend and have her send it to you on Christmas so it arrives by the new year of 2020. Who doesn’t love to read real mail?

Write a “33 things to do before my 33rd birthday” list. I had a friend do this last year and it was fun watching her check things off her list. It can be anything from, learning to knit to sky-diving in Vegas. Think of some fun things that your Facebook friends would be so jealous to see you do. Then create a fun hashtag so you can look back on all your posts from the previous year. You will be amazed at how much you’ve grown by getting out of your comfort zone and doing some fun activities.

Book a vacation or retreat in January. Get some rest before the year begins. Sometimes when we are so stressed out (especially during the holidays), we can’t even think straight. Start the new year off with rejuvenation and self-reflection. Get some much needed “me time” or “adult time” in with your husband. Feel the magic of sleep and sun.

My strong advice: Get an accountability partner.

If you follow me at all, you know I say this all the time. Who is holding you accountable besides yourself? It is important to share these goals with a trusted person who will be your cheerleader and go-to bestie when times get tough. This person will be there to make sure you get back on track and continue to strive for your goals.

What are you doing to make sure you are sticking with your goals this year?
